FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Q: WHAT IS THE PROCEEDURE FOR GETTING ACCESS ON BUDDY-BAKER.US? BBUS is a debian-based linux server owned and maintained by me. With that said, if a user would like access to my server, they would have to have a VERY GOOD REASON to get access on my server. Chances are, that if you are one of the few that have an account on my server, then you have been selected to have such an account. If you would still like to get an account on BBUS, please send me an email and we can discuss this possibility further.
Q: HOW DO YOU CONNECT TO BBUS?
Connect to BBUS using the Secure Shell Protocol. You may also connect to BBUS using the FTP or SFTP Protocol. Due to the fact that it is less secure then SSH, BBUS does NOT support the Telnet protocol. Information on this can be obtained at the support page.
Q: Can I use mail on BBUS?
Q: Are Webpages Allowed?
YES!! BBUS allows users to create webpages in their home directories. Users who wish to do this would have the address: http://buddy-baker.us/~username. Files would have to reside in a directory called public_html. More info available on the support page
Q: Are there any other things I need to know?
Just remember to be mindful of our House Rules:
Q: Is there a Disk Usage Quota for users?
No. But I would ask that users are mindful of the sizes of files that they have in their home directories. webpages are OK, as are most files that are downloaded from the Internet, but please do not leave large Archive files here for extended periods without letting us know. If you do, they will be deleted if necessary to keep disk utilization down.
