SETTING UP A PERSONAL WEBPAGE ON BBUS:
A TUTORIAL Users wishing to establish web pages on BBUS first have an account on the system. If you are looking for hosting services Please see my Hosting link
Once you have an account created, it is a simple process to create a webpage. Many people equate a webpage with a website, but this is not quite accurate, because a WEB PAGE is just one page out of a website, whereas a WEB SITE is a collection of pages. It is also called a HOME Page. BBUS has been set up so that each user has a special directory for web related files. This Directory is called "public_html".
Users can create web pages using any web design software, and then upload it to the server in thier public_html directory. Users MUST call their homepages either "index.html or index.htm. This is because the server knows that these pages are the default names for these pages. Users will then have the web address http://buddy-baker.us/~username (~username being your login name - (Ie: http://buddy-baker.us/~buddy))
You can choose to FTP or SFTP to buddy-baker.us and login to your account. Once there, cd to public_html and copy all files including pictures, videos, etc to your public_html directory. Your permissions will automatically let the world see the files in your web directory, so unless you changed the permissions there, you should be all set!! Buddy
